Hodson's Colombian Adoption Journey

This blog will document our journey in beginning our family through a Parent-Initiated Adoption from ICBF in Colombia. We will mark the stages and key events along the way as well as blog frequently from Colombia after we receive the call of our lives.

It's Official - Thursday at 1:30 pm

I truely can't believe that it's actually happening, but I better start because it's all set and confirmed that we will be presented with our little Gabriela Sophia at 1:30 on Thursday! If you want to mark the moment along with us, Colombia is in the Eastern Time Zone but doesn't observe Daylight Savings Time so right now they are 1 hour behind Eastern Time.

I'm starting to calm down from the high stress of this past week and I'm sure that the new stress of the trip will set in soon, but I'm enjoying the calm right now and just focusing on getting to Gabriela. Monica is doing very well in Bogota and is going to book our hotel in the next day or so and is searching for the type of baby blankets that come from Colombia that she loves so much. We actually have two Colombian baby blankets on our own bed so she really loves those blankets!

We received a wonderful gift in the mail today for Gabriela from one of the wonderful families that are part of the Yahoo Group that we are a part of. Thank you so much again Melinda & Moises; we can't thank you enough really.

Dear the new Mami & Papi,

Congrats on the news of your new little blessing, Gabriela. We are soo happy that you have been blessed with a beautiful little girl whose only a few months younger than Anabella. Although it's easier said than done, try to not stress about all the red tape that is ahead in finalizing the adoption. Keep focused on that adorable little face that is waiting for the love you are going to give her. Keep faith because God is walking you both through this and has a plan. Look how he's guided you and made this process run quickly and smoothly. Can't wait until you can hold her in your arms. You will experience a love that you never knew existed, one that is different. Enjoy every minute of it! We will keep you all in our prayers! Love you all!

    Love,
    Melli, Stephen & Anabella

Excellent news! God is so good. Just a few more days and your lives will be together forever! It seems like just yesterday Monica told me about your plans to adopt and here, the day has come.
I'm so excited for you and can't wait to see you and give you and your baby girl a huge hug and kiss.

    Love,
    Mireya
